Welcome to La Dolce Doggie!

La Dolce Doggie was founded on a few simple ideas: dogs are man’s best friend, life is better with dogs and all dogs deserve a loving home.

Our inspiration comes from many different places: a lifetime of living with and loving dogs, a desire to improve the human/canine connection through training, love and Angie, our first foster dog. As volunteers at Philadelphia’s city shelter ACCT, we have had the opportunity to meet many wonderful dogs in need of loving homes and this has served to deepen our commitment to helping as many dogs as possible be placed in and live out their lives in loving, forever homes. Angie was one of those shelter dogs, whose story, though not fully known is a sad one. Found tied to a porch in Philadelphia, skinny and sick and still a puppy, clearly her start in life was not an easy one. The volunteers at ACCT are a dedicated bunch, and a few formed a special relationship with her and as she got more sick, they became more worried. Dogs as sick as she was rarely make it out of the shelter; resources are limited and intake is high. They reached out to us and we nursed her back to health and worked on training, building trust and creating a better chance at life for her.

While the goal was to change Angie’s life, to say that she has changed ours is an understatement. While Angie is only one of literally millions of dogs without a roof over their heads and food in their bellies, for us, she has come to signify everything we are committed to accomplishing. We love all dogs, and shelter dogs have an extra special place in our hearts. Our commitment to rescue animals and the people that love them includes volunteering to socialize and train shelter dogs so that they become more adoptable. Adoption events and “featured dogs of the week” serve to help shelters and rescue organizations get more exposure and also increase their chances for adoption. La Dolce Doggie’s investment in the welfare of dogs is not limited to rescue, but, because it is our passion, we are dedicated to doing our share to educate and advocate on behalf of shelter pets. Training and enrichments are important for all dogs and our retail selection features items that we have determined to be the most beneficial and enjoyable for dogs and the people who love them. Whether your dog is big or small, young or old, we have everything you need to keep them happy! Training is crucial in your relationship with your dog as it helps you understand each other, and…the bonus is that it is fun! Weekly classes are a great way to increase your connection and learn to speak each other’s language.
